ATLANTA - Piedmont volleyball senior Zoe Coelho has been named Collegiate Conference of the South Defensive Player of the Week, as the first conference weekly awards were released Tuesday afternoon.

The Roswell, Georgia native earns the first weekly honor of her career after a fantastic debut to her senior campaign.

 


Coelho recorded double digit digs in all four of Piedmont's matches at the Bear Bash over the weekend, hosted by Truett McConnell. Against tough NAIA competition, Coelho was up to the task, leading the Lions with 63 total digs over the four matches.

She recorded a high of 21 digs in just three sets against Tennessee Wesleyan, marking the second time in her career she had eclipsed 20 digs and the first in a three-set match.

Up next, Coelho and the Lions will be back on the court with more tournament action this weekend, beginning Friday, September 5 at the Huntingdon Invitational in Montgomery, Alabama.
