Season Recap: Volleyball 2025

• The Lions finished 2025 with a 7-25 record, eclipsing last season's total by one.
• Piedmont honored seven seniors this season as Katie Hubbard, Aria Forest, Alex Wingate, Abbey Carver, Zoe Coelho, Kya Perkinson and Bree Chappell each completed their careers with the Lions.
• Senior libero Zoe Coelho enjoyed a breakout season, leading the team and the CCS with 600 digs.
• Coelho earned CCS Defensive Player of the Week three times during the campaign.
• The Lions were under new leadership as Kat Tatum was named head coach and completed her first season at the helm of the program in 2025.

• Piedmont controlled all three sets, winning 25-15, 25-19 and 25-21 to close out the sweep.
• Sophomore Sara Bjerke was a star at the net, leading the team with seven kills and totaling three block assists.
• On the defensive side, senior Zoe Coelho tied a career high with 23 digs, which she would later breeze past in match two of the day.
• Senior leader Katie Hubbard delivered six kills including the game-sealing swing to put the exclamation point on the victory.
• The win marked the first career head coaching win at Piedmont for first year head coach Kat Tatum.

• After being road warriors throughout September, the Lions made their long-awaited return to Demorest and picked up their CCS win in the home opener.
• The Lions used a balanced offensive attack as four players tied for the team lead with seven kills. Sophomore Erin Lemons was superb, recording a double-double with 16 assists and 15 digs.
• Two-time CCS Defensive Player of the Week Zoe Coelho delivered a new career high with 30 digs.
• It was a back-and-forth match with wild momentum swings both ways. Piedmont led by a large margin in the first set, only to see the Wolves erase the big lead and tie the set at 21 apiece. However, the Lions calmly recovered by winning the final four points to jump ahead in the match 1-0.
• Using the momentum to its advantage, Piedmont raced out to a fast start in the second set, winning the first eight points in a row before Wesleyan was able to win one. The Lions never looked back, winning the set 25-8 in dominant fashion.
• Unfortunately, the Wolves flipped the script in the third set, denying a straight set Piedmont win. The Lions fell behind early in the set and were unable to recover, forcing the match to a fourth.
• The fourth and final set was back-and-forth in the early going until the Lions took control midway through, turning a 15-14 lead into a 20-14 lead in the blink of an eye.

• On a night in which it celebrated seven seniors, Piedmont volleyball delivered a convincing 3-0 win over Agnes Scott on Tuesday night at Cave Arena.
• Seniors Katie Hubbard and Alex Wingate tied for the team lead with six kills apiece, followed closely by fellow seniors Bree Chappell (5), Kya Perkinson (4) and Aria Foerst (3).
• On the defensive side, senior Zoe Coelho led the way with 16 digs while Abbye Carver added eight digs and tied with Hubbard for the top spot on the team with four service aces.
• While the Scotties held tough early in the first set, the Lions pulled away late in the set with a 4-0 run with the final three points on kills by Foerst, Hubbard and Wingate.
• Piedmont was even more dominant in the second set, jumping out to a quick 9-3 lead and never looking back to capture a 2-0 lead in the match.
• Needing just one more set to close out the match, it was Hubbard's serve that pushed the Lions to a big early lead in the final set. 
• The senior from Aurora, Colorado helped Piedmont reel off 10 straight points on her serve, with a pair of service aces to cap off the run and give the Lions an insurmountable 15-3 advantage.
