JACKSON, Miss. - Piedmont volleyball closed out its regular season slate, falling in a pair of matches to Maryville and Belhaven in Jackson, Mississippi Saturday afternoon.
After beginning the day with a three-set loss to the Scots (25-16, 25-16, 25-7), the Lions showed resiliency against the Blazers in a true road environment, battling to the end of the two of the three sets before falling.

Against the Scots,
Zoe Coelho's defensive performance was the highlight of the match, with the senior adding a team-best 20 digs over just three sets of play.
As a team, the Lions were competitive early in the first and second sets, but the Scots pulled away to win all three.
Match 2 Score: Belhaven 3, Piedmont 0
Katie Hubbard's dynamic offensive performance led the Lions in the final match of the regular season. The senior from Aurora, Colorado closed in on her career high, recording 17 kills in just three sets to lead the team, while also delivering an efficient .268 hitting percentage.
Sophomore
Erin Lemons added three kills to go with a team-high 14 assists and seven digs.
Coelho moved her digs total to 36 for the day with 16 more in match two, leading the team once again.
Piedmont started slow in each of the first two sets, and despite best efforts, were not able to mount a rally to overtake Belhaven. Then, in the third, Piedmont held tough, closing its deficit to 21-20 after back-to-back kills from Hubbard.
Unfortunately, the Blazers responded by winning the final four points of the set to close out the match in three.
The loss ends Piedmont's season with a 7-25 record and 4-12 in the CCS. The Lions finished seventh in the CCS Regular Season standings.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- With Coelho's 36 dig day, the senior eclipsed the 900 mark for her career, with 600 of those coming this season.
- Hubbard closed out her career with over 840 kills, including reaching at least 230 in three straight seasons.
