Demorest, GA - For the first time in the Sid Feldman era at Piedmont College, the Lady Lions are 12-1 after sweeping a pair of matches earlier Saturday afternoon over a pair of USA South Athletic Conference foes in Huntingdon College and LaGrange College.  With the two wins giving PC a 2-0 start to conference play in 2013 as well, Piedmont's 12-1 start is the best 13-game start by a Lady Lion volleyball team under current Head Coach Sid Feldman who began his tenure with the green and gold prior to the 2008 season.

In Piedmont's opener of the day, Huntingdon was the opponent though PC had little opposition in both the first and third sets winning 25-13 and 25-14 respectively.  However, in the second set, the Lady Hawks came close to pushing Piedmont past three sets in the match, something that has not happened still since September 7th when PC went five with Oglethorpe.  Since then and including today's tri-match, the Lady Lions have not dropped a set in seven consecutive matches.

Despite the 25-21 close win in set number two, the Lady Lions rolled to their ninth straight win with the 3-0 straight set decision over Huntingdon.

Leaders offensively against HC included Taylor Cramsey who led all Piedmont hitters in both matches combined tallying nine against the Lady Hawks on 26 attempts.  Junior Kaitlin Norman had seven kills on 20 attempts, a .300 hitting percentage though the leader in percentage was another junior in Jennifer Opper who tallied six kills on 13 attempts to hit .385 in the opening match of the day.

Veteran Danielle Maffett also had a strong performance offensively against Huntingdon tallying five kills on just ten attempts with only a pair of errors to her name.  Senior Katheryn Knarr's 22 set assists was the team high for PC against HC with youngster Xandy Green adding 11.  Green would later lead the team in the win over LaGrange with her 16 assists contributing 11 digs in that match as well.

After the straight sets win, Piedmont would again be dominant at the start and the close of its next match beating LaGrange 25-12 in both the first and third sets of the eventual 3-0 decision. LaGrange put up an effort in the second falling 20-25, but it would not be enough for the Panthers on this day in the Cave as Feldman's Lady Lions executed with precision making just 16 errors at the net compared to almost 30 for visiting LC.

Cramsey once again was Piedmont's offensive leader tabbing eight kills though needing 27 attempts to do so while newcomer Jackie Campbell earned her eight kills, tying for the team high, on 22 attempts hitting .273 for the match.  Freshman Katelyn Dobbs delivered one of her best performances of the season though picking up a half dozen kills on a dozen attempts to hit .417 with just one error, a percentage that led all hitters in the match.

Defensively, youngster Katie Faith continues to keep the proud libero tradition of Piedmont alive leading the way with her 33 digs on the day including an outstanding 21 in the win over the Panthers alone.  Faith's total more than doubled the next Lady Lion in the category as Piedmont tallied 68 digs to 56 for LaGrange in the final match of the Saturday USA South showdown.

Piedmont has now won ten straight matches with its two wins today in the Cave in front of a raucous crowd. Perhaps more impressive is that this stretch comes at the start of the season and represents the best 13-game start not just in the Sid Feldman era, but also the program's NCAA era which began with the 2003 season - more than a decade ago.  That span includes two teams, the 2007 and 2010 Lady Lions, who made the program's two appearances in the NCAA National Tournament as well.

The two victories move the Lady Lions to 2-0 in the USA South with both victories coming against South Division foes.  Piedmont, now 12-1 overall, will now get set to face another USA South member on Tuesday night when they travel to Lookout Mountain, Georgia to take on the Scots of Covenant College. First serve of the conference battle is set for 6:30 pm.
