Seven Point Rally Highlights Volleyball Team's Win Over Reinhardt

Kaitlin Norman hit an impressive .632 with 12 kills in the Lady Lions' 3-1 home victory over Reinhardt.
Box Score DEMOREST, Georgia -- The Piedmont College volleyball team used a large first set rally to highlight a 3-1 victory over visiting Reinhardt University this evening.  The Lady Lions' 26-24, 21-25, 25-23, 25-12 improves the team to 14-4 overall and keeps the team unbeaten in the friendly confines of Cave Arena.

Trailing 24-19 in the first set, the Lady Lions reeled off seven straight points to earn the win.  Reinhardt would regroup to take the second 25-21 before Piedmont squeaked out a 25-23 win in the fourth set.  A decisive 25-12 final set victory gave Piedmont its fifth straight victory.

KAITLIN NORMAN (12) and JENNIFER OPPER (11) each reached double figures in kills. Norman was exceptionally effective hitting .632 (12-19 with no errors).  Opper also made the most of her swings hitting .310.  ASHLEY FANNON recorded a season-high nine kills as did teammate COURTNEY BRADSHAW.

KATHERYN KNARR dished out 27 assists while XANDY GREEN pitched in with 18 helpers.  Defensively PAIGE ESLINGER totaled 11 digs while Knarr and Norman each contributed with eight apiece.

For Reinhardt, Jeannie Fiero and Amelia Moore each posted a team-high 13 kills while Candace Turrcotte added 12.  Kim McIntyre orchestrated the Eagle offense with 47 assists.

"Tonight was an amazing win for our team," stated head coach Sid Feldman.  Reinhardt is a very good team that is well-coached.  We set the tone of the match early in the first set when we were down by hustling and saving a lot of balls."

Piedmont returns to action on Saturday, October 6 when the team plays host to a USA South Athletic Conference tri-match with William Peace University and Maryville College.  First serve for the day is set for high noon.
