Cole Records 1,000th Career Kill In PC's 3-0 Victory Over Spelman

In the Lady Lions' 3-0 victory over Spelman College senior Nikki Cole earned her 1,000th career kill just three points into the match.

With the senior class being recognized before the start of the match, the Piedmont College volleyball team overpowered visiting Great South Athletic Conference member Spelman College this evening at Cave Arena by the score of 3-0. The Lady Lions improve to 6-1 in the GSAC and finish the season with a 5-2 mark at home.

Just three points into the match senior Nikki Cole blasted her second kill, marking the 1,000th in her stellar career. The women carried the momentum and notched 11 consecutive points of Heather Stafford's serve to take the first point 25-9.

After trailing 9-2 in the second frame the Lady Lions rallied to take the point 25-16 and sealed the victory in the finale 25-11. Cole led the balanced offensive attack that saw 10 players record kills with a match high eight.

Michelle Tesina chipped in with six kills on nine attempts while senior Tyler Baldonado added 26 assists and 10 digs. The final senior Katie Tucker ended her career in Cave Arena with five kills and seven digs.

The victory improves PC to 20-8 overall. The squad will travel to the Sewanee-University of the South Invitational in Sewanee, TN on Friday, October 28th where they will face Huntingdon College in a non-conference affair starting at 2:00.
