FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Piedmont women's golf freshman Lila Polakowski has been selected as the USA South Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.

The Canton, Michigan native delivered a standout performance in Piedmont's opening tournament of the spring, the Centre College Classic in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

 

Playing the difficult No. 1 course, Polakowski opened the with a solid round of 11-over 82 on Saturday before firing a career-best round of 3-over 74 in cold, windy conditions in Sunday's final round.

The performance vaulted her up the leaderboard to a tie for 15th out of 66 golfers competing in the event and helped the Lions hold on to sixth place as a team.

Only one golfer carded a better round on Sunday than Polakowski.

Up next, the Lions will have a week off before returning to action at the Savannah Invitational in Savannah, Georgia on Monday, March 9.

- Polakowski marks the second different Piedmont freshman to earn USA South Rookie of the Year honors during the 2025-26 season, joining Aubree Hill, who won the award twice in the fall.
