PINEHURST, N.C. - Piedmont women's golf ended the day where it started, finishing in sixth at the Centre College Classic Sunday afternoon to open the spring season.
On a chilly day at Pinehurst No. 1, the course played more difficult than in Saturday's first round. Starting the day in a tie for fourth,
Erin Donovan carded a 9-over 80 but still banked a top-10 finish, coming in at tied for eighth.
Freshman
Lila Polakowski was the star on Sunday, however, firing a career-low round of 3-over 74 in the tough conditions. Polakowski vaulted 15 spots up the individual leaderboard. Only one round on the course all day was better.
Fellow newcomer
Addison Maney also had a stellar day, moving up the board as well seven spots after an 82.
Keegan Goins delivered Piedmont's final counting score of the day with an 89.
Overall, the Lions finished Sunday's final round with a 325, just five worse than Saturday's final round.
WashU took the team title while WashU's Amy Beanblossom won the individual title with back-to-back under par rounds.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Polakowski delivered a career-best round in tough conditions on Sunday to card a tie for 15th-place finish and help the Lions hold steady in sixth place.
