FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Piedmont women's lacrosse sophomore goalie Ansli Cannon has been selected as the USA South Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday afternoon.

The McDonough, Georgia native had a standout 2026 debut for the Lions this past Wednesday, playing a key role in the team's 15-4 home victory over Oglethorpe.

Cannon played all 60 minutes and tallied eight saves against just four goals allowed in the win, good for a .667 save percentage.

This marks Cannon's first career USA South weekly award.

Up next, the Lions will take to the road and battle Division II Shorter this Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 5 p.m.
