Women's Lacrosse Opens Season With 15-4 Win Over Oglethorpe

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's lacrosse team earned a decisive victory on Wednesday to open the 2026 season at home over Oglethorpe, 15-4. The Lions led the entirety of the game after a dominant start of seven unanswered goals into the second quarter. 

Piedmont opened the game with a pair of goals from senior Laura Crone early in the first quarter, followed by an unassisted goal from freshman Avery Washington just over a minute later. Senior Lovette Choloh joined in, adding two unassisted goals in the span of 15 seconds.

 


Washington and Choloh both found the net once again early in the second quarter before Oglethorpe's Anna Ramsden broke the shutout potential for the Lions. Piedmont immediately responded with sophomore Kaitlyn Mulligan's first goal of the game nearly seven seconds later. Over the next two minutes, Ramsden added another to the Stormy Petrels tally while sophomore Savannah Ivie found the back of the net, earning her first goal of the season. 

Just prior to the half, freshman Abby Waldrop scored her sole goal of the game to bring the Lions to a 10-2 lead over the Stormy Petrels.

Piedmont outscored Oglethorpe 5-2 in the second half, leading the Lions to their first win of the season on their home field. Seniors Carson Bezold and Amanda Barrett also added their names to the scoring sheet during the second half of the Lions climbed to a 15-4 victory.

Up next, Piedmont will travel to Rome, Georgia to play Shorter on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 5 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
--Piedmont used a strong second half to outscore the Stormy Petrels 12-5 to claim the win. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--Lovette Choloh led Piedmont with four goals with Laura Crone following with a hat trick.
--Carson Bezold led the Lions with four assists and Savannah Limehouse totaled three assists. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--In total, eight different Lions scored in the 2026 opener.
