Johnson City, TN - The Piedmont College track and field teams took to East Tennessee State University for the Buccaneer Invitational Friday and Saturday setting a combined 11 school records over the weekend.
The first school record of the meet came from
JULIA GRAHAM who bettered her own mark in the 400m running a 1:01.96. That mark places her in the top-8 in the region from marks input through the end of January.
The men's distance medley relay team also broke their own record as
JARROD HOWELL,
ESTEBAN SALAZAR,
BRYCE GRIGGS and
DEWAYNE CAGLE recorded an 11:22.46 on Friday. Griggs also bettered his own mark in the 3000m Saturday running a 9:18.81, improving his time by just over two seconds.
Freshman
ANDREW GALE had one of the biggest performances of the meet for Piedmont running a 16:52.66 in the 5k, setting the school record and improving his own personal best from high school by over two minutes.
BROOKE HARDEGREE set a pair of school records in the long jump and triple jump with a 4.81m (15-09.5) jump in the long jump on Friday. Saturday she hop, skipped and jumped her way to a new indoor triple jump record of 10.17m (33-04.5).
ANALEE BRADACH cruised to a new indoor PR and program record in the 800m running a 2:32.21 coming in fourth in her heat.
KYLE RAY once again broke his own record in the pole vault as the sophomore improved to 4.40m (14'05.25") ending in a tie for seventh overall. Ray has now improved by over a foot and a half from his indoor PR last season and is approaching his best mark from the outdoor season (14'11") in 2016.

ANDREW GALE improved his PR in the 5k to 16:52 after posting a 19:07 as his best time in high school.

--Piedmont set a total of 11 school records at the meet with Hardegree accounting for a pair & Griggs earning two as he was part of the DMR.

The Lions will compete February 11 at the Sewanee Tiger Indoor Invitational in the final indoor competition of the spring.
