As a Freshman (2015-16): Earned USTFCCCA All-Region status finishing as one of the top-5 pole vaulters in the region…Finished as one of the top-10 freshmen in the country in NCAA Division III with his personal best clearing 4.55m (14'11") at the Falcon Classic at the University of Montevallo…Ray improved by 16" in his debut season with the Lions after clearing 13'7" in high school…Took the top spot overall at the BSC Southern Invitational and Sewanee Mountain Laurel Invitational in 2016. 

Prep & Personal: Native of Albertville, Alabama born on May 12, 1997…Parents are Alana and Jackie Garrard and Kevin Ray…Has one sister Emily Ray…2015 graduate of Albertville High School…Pole Vaulter in Track & Field under Coach Jimmy Patterson…Holds the Albertville High School Pole Vault record at 13’7”…Broke the previous school record in 2014 at 12’ then broke his own school record in 2015 vaulting 13’7”…AHSAA 6A Indoor Pole Vault State Champion vaulting 13’6”…Finished third in the AHSAA 6A Outdoor Pole Vault State Championship…County champion in the pole vault for Marshall County in 2014 and 2015…Earned All-County honors in the pole vault…Also competed in football for Albertville starting his junior and senior season as a long snapper…Voted as the Most Valuable Special Teams player in the 2014 season…Senior class Student Government Representative…An Honor Usher for the 2014 Graduation…Member of the Albertville City Junior Museum Baord…A Keynote Speaker at the 2012 Veteran’s Day Program…Member of Sons of Confederate Veterans…Finished 13^th in the state overall for the 2014-15 school year.
