ATLANTA - Piedmont women's track and field athlete Allison Cantrell has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

The junior from Canton, Georgia wins the award after a strong showing at the Electric City invitational.


 

Allison Cantrell turned in a strong showing at the Electric City Invitational, competing in both the javelin and long jump.

The junior recorded a personal-best throw of 25.46 meters in the javelin, placing ninth in a field of 19, and added an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a season-best mark of 4.96 meters.

Next, Cantrell and the Lions travel to Rome, Ga. to compete in the Berry Field Day Invitational.
