STORYLINES
--3rd straight meeting between these two in USA South Championship Game
--Meredith is looking for 3rd straight tourney title
--Avenging Angels would close on 16-1 season with a win today
--Piedmont senior class striving for a tournament title for first time after two regular season titles

THE COACHES
In her fourth season leading the Lady Lions, Head Coach Emily Jacquette is establishing one of the most dominating programs in the South as Piedmont entered 2016 at 40-9 under their current leader. Piedmont finished the season 9-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play with those two losses coming to the two higher seeds in the tournament. Jacquette has her team focused only on the task at hand as Piedmont took a third straight USA South semifinal win facing Greensboro on Friday setting up today's championship showdown.

Lauren Scott joined the Meredith College athletics staff in spring of 2012 as the first head women's lacrosse coach. Under Scott's leadership the young program made an immediate impact in the conference and region. The 2015 squad claimed the program's second consecutive USA South Women's Lacrosse Tournament Championship and earned the league's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III tournament. Scott collected conference Coach of the Year honors, and Carlee Joseph earned the USA South Rookie of the Year award.

SCOUTING MEREDITH
Meredith comes into Saturday's championship game with a 15-1 overall record including a 6-0 undefeated mark in USA South play for its first league Regular Season Championship.  The Avenging Angels would pair a tournament title with a regular season title for the first time in program history with a win in today's Championship Game.  MC is led by Carlee Joseph, 2016 USA South Player of the Year, and Katie Burnet, 2014 USA South Player of the Year, who have combined for 123 goals this season, the highest scoring duo in the league.

EYES ON THE PRIZE
Piedmont's senior class that started the program took one more step towards its first USA South Tournament title yesterday with a 15-10 win over Greensboro College, the same Pride team who handed PC a loss in its regular season finale.  The Lady Lions will have to repeat the feat of taking down an opponent who handed them a regular season loss if Piedmont wants to claim its first tournament title after two seasons of undefeated play in USA South Regular Seasons.

TEACH ME HOW TO DOUGLAS
Senior MCKYNSEY DOUGLAS was at her best in yesterday's semifinal win over Greensboro scoring six goals against the Pride.  In five USA South postseason contests, Douglas has led the team in scoring three times tallying a team-best 22 goals in the postseason during that stretch.

LAST TIME OUT: V. GREENSBORO IN USA SOUTH SEMIS (W, 15-10)
For the third straight season, the Piedmont College women's lacrosse team has made its way to the USA South tournament title game as they won in the semi-finals 15-10 over Greensboro. The Lady Lions were led by none other than MCKYNSEY DOUGLAS who fired up the offense with six goals on eight shots.

In a rematch of a contest played less than one week ago, Piedmont looked like a different team early on as they led by as many as eight in the first half. The Lady Lions allowed Kirsten Norris to score six in the regular season matchup while Douglas changed the landscape Friday scoring six of her own.

Norris was held in check as she scored just three goals, tying her season-low, on 14 shots taken and was the second-leading scorer for the Pride behind Alexa Besch. Piedmont had three goals from ALEXIS NARDUCCI and a pair from KAYLA JONES for the multi-goal scorers.

Piedmont led 11-3 with with one minute to play in the first half but the Pride tacked on two late to make it 11-5 heading to the break. Greensboro came out with intensity in the second half scoring a pair quickly to make it 11-7 but the closest the contest got from that point on was 13-10 with 17:17 left on the clock.

NEXT UP FOR PIEDMONT
Should Piedmont win today's USA South Championship Game, the Lady Lions will earn the league's automatic berth into the NCAA National Tournament for the first time in program history.
