DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's lacrosse team raced past Greensboro on Saturday with a big win to advance to the semifinals.
The Lions' offense was once again stellar, putting the game away early to advance.
Piedmont opened the game with a goal from Savannah Limehouse in the first two minutes of the game. On the assist for the goal was Carson Bezold, who, with the assist, broke the program record for assists in a single season with her 58th on the year.
From there, the Lions broke the game open with a seven-goal run to close out the first quarter.
The Lions scored 13 unanswered goals before Greensboro claimed its first goal of the match off of a free-position shot.
With the game well in hand, the Lions continued their attack, scoring 12 more goals to close out the game and advance to the semifinals.
Four separate Lions recorded a hat trick in the performance, with Bezold and Avery Washington collecting five goals on the day. Limehouse found the back of the net four times on the day, adding to her team-leading goal total of 58.
Next the Lions will prepare for semifinal action against No. 3 Methodist with the contest set for Thursday, April 30th, with the time to be determined.
TURNING POINT:
- Piedmont put the game away early with a seven-goal first quarter.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Washington and Bezold both collected five goals on the day, leading the Lions in the stat for the game.
- With five goals and six assists, Bezold scored 11 points on the day alone.
MAKING HISTORY:
- Carson Bezold broke the former single-season assist record with her 58th of the season. Bezold continues her season now with 63 assists on the year.
