RALEIGH, N.C. — The Piedmont women's lacrosse team fell in the USA South final to the Meredith Avenging Angels by a final score of 21-2.
The Avenging Angels raced out to an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back, scoring nine goals in the first half to put the game away.
After seeing Meredith in its last regular-season game. The Lions looked to advance upon their previous game plan against the No. 1 seeded Meredith.
Meredith struck first with a pair of goals, but Piedmont sought to fire back as Lovette Choloh scored to cut the deficit to one.
That would be all the offense for the Lions in the quarter as the Avenging Angels scored two more goals in the first and five goals in the second to widen their lead over the Lions.
Clara Welch fired a shot for the Lions for their second goal before half, looking to stoke rally flames heading into halftime.
The Avenging Angels blazed into the third quarter with two goals in the first five minutes, growing the distance between the two competitors.
Piedmont looked to rally the defense but did not overcome the onslaught of Meredith as the Avenging Angels put the game away in the third with six unanswered goals.
Meredith came away with the victory after another strong season in the USA South.
This concludes the Lions' season. Piedmont showed strength in the tournament from a strong senior class.

- Meredith took control in the second quarter, pacing itself ahead of Piedmont.
