Women's Lacrosse Falls in Non-Conference Action to Panthers 10-7

Box Score Need to Know
Score: Piedmont 7, Birmingham-Southern 10
Records: Lady Lions 3-2, Panthers 2-0
Location: Demorest, Georgia - Walker Athletic Complex

Demorest, GA - The Piedmont College women's lacrosse team fell earlier Wednesday afternoon to visiting Birmingham-Southern College by a 10-7 scoreline in non-conference action.

Piedmont had opened up a three-goal lead after scores from MCKYNSEY DOUGLAS, MAGGIE MCDANIEL, and NOAH HOLT in the first 9:05 of play.  However, the Panthers then rattled off seven straight of their own to assume control of the lead never relinquishing the advantage to the home team again.

For BSC, it was the pairing of Amanda Amerson and Ashley Sheppard that led the way with a combined six goals and two assists.  Piedmont had no answer for the duo though the Lady Lions did cut the lead to just three goals in the later stages trailing 9-6 with just about six minutes remaining.

However, the Panthers scored again to make it a four-goal lead before going on to win by three in the mid-week contest at Walker Athletic Complex.

Turning Point
--Piedmont trailed by three goals with just about six minutes remaining before a Panther score at the 5:52 mark made the lead insurmountable in the eventual 10-7 loss.

Standout Performances
--MAGGIE MCDANIEL totaled three scores for the second straight game taking a total of seven shots in the contest.
--The Panthers' Ashley Sheppard scored four times on eight shots to lead BSC to the win.

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont out-shot the Panthers by a slim margin 21-20.
--After Piedmont opened with a 3-0 lead, BSC scored seven straight to stun the crowd and take control.

News & Notes
--The loss is the first to the Panthers as the Lady Lions are now 1-1 against BSC after winning 24-6 in 2015.
--Piedmont has only been out-shot once on the season, that came in the opener vs. Rhodes.
