STORYLINES
-Piedmont took the first meeting between these two earlier in the year with a five-goal victory at Ferrum
-The Lady Lions are 2-1 in three regular season meetings with the Panthers over Piedmont's first three years of program history
-PC coming off its first loss in its last 15 regular season games dating back to 2014
-Friday is the first-ever postseason matchup between the two in Piedmont's program history

THE COACHES
In her third season leading the Lady Lions, Head Coach Emily Jacquette is establishing one of the most dominating programs in the South as Piedmont is 39-8 under their current leader.  For the second straight season, Piedmont finished the USA South regular season undefeated at 6-0 this year after an 8-0 showing last year.  However, the 2015 team is looking to complete the journey that the 2014 came up one goal shy of as last year's squad fell in overtime of the USA South Championship Game.  Despite keeping their eyes on the prize at the end, Jacquette has her team focused only on the task at hand as Piedmont looks for a second straight USA South semifinal win facing Ferrum on Friday.

Karen Harvey has led the Ferrum women's lacrosse program since the summer of 2006, but the long-time coach has seen her time in several areas of the collegiate athletic arena having served as the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Hollins University from 1995 to 2005.  Harvey also was the Sports Information Director at Hollins during that same time before coming to Ferrum.  Harvey serves as a volunteer coach with the Panthers' women's basketball team.

SCOUTING FERRUM
Ferrum comes into the Friday semifinals with Piedmont having earned the tournament's #4 seed with a 3-3 even record in conference play.  Two Panthers have scored 50 or more this season with Shannon Brown and Courtney Hamm tallying 99 goals between them.

Both of the goalscorers were All-Conference selections in this year's listing with Brown taking 1st team honors while Hamm was a 2nd team selection. Four Panthers in all made the All-Conference grade as Ferrum comes into this year's conference tournament with the 2nd most turnovers in the league and most amongst the four participants in Rocky Mount this weekend.

So far, the Panthers have played two neutral site contests this season and lost both, a 16-7 loss to Virginia Wesleyan in the second game of the season and another against West Virginia Wesleyan, a 19-5 defeat that wrapped up the regular season.

SERIES RECORDS
Piedmont is 2-1 in three meetings with the Panthers of Ferrum College having taken the last two in the series including this year's 12-7 victory.  In Piedmont's first year of existence, the 2013 season, Ferrum handed Piedmont a 17-7 loss, one of just three regular season losses for Piedmont that year.  In 2014, the Lady Lions exacted revenge with a tight 11-9 victory in the friendly confines of Walker Athletic Complex.

NATIONALLY KNOWN
In just three years of women's lacrosse action at Piedmont College, the Green and Gold are starting to draw attention from across the nation.  Lady Lions dot the national statistical rankings in nearly every column topped by MAGGIE MCDANIEL's stellar 2015 campaign.  McDaniel is ranked 2nd in all of NCAA Division III with 45 total assists and the junior midfielder is ranked 4th in assists per game.

McDaniel is joined by MCKYNSEY DOUGLAS in the national talks as Douglas is ranked 13th with her 73 total points and is ranked 8th in the country with her 56 scores this season, a team-best.  Defensively, Piedmont's BLAKE FORREST is also ranked 7th in the country in goals against average as well.

As a team, Piedmont owns the 7th best scoring offense, 6th best scoring defense, and is ranked 12th in draw controls as well.  The Lady Lions own the third best scoring margin in the country outscoring the competition by nearly 11 goals per game.

LAST TIME OUT: V. SEWANEE (L, 18-14)
Piedmont's loss to Sewanee ended the Lady Lions' hopes of a perfect season while the Tigers kept their own alive moving to 15-0 with the win in Tennessee.

Wednesday marked the first time that Piedmont had trailed at halftime of any contest, regular season and postseason included, in 31 consecutive games.  The last time PC trailed at halftime to any team - February 15, 2014 in the season opener, a 16-12 loss to none other than the Tigers of Sewanee, the same foe that Piedmont played earlier tonight and trailed by five at the break.

MCKYNSEY DOUGLAS and LOGAN RUCK accounted for all five of Piedmont's first half goals and Douglas would stay at it in the second half scoring PC's first goal coming out of the break as the visitors would score two of the first three goals in the second period to cut the lead down to four at 11-7 Sewanee.

Trailing 15-9 with less than 17 to play, Piedmont scored three straight in a 7-minute period to make it a three goal game putting the season of perfection within grasp.  Pushed to the brink, Sewanee looked to preserve its own unbeaten record by scoring back-to-back goals in about a minute to answer and put the game out of reach for Piedmont down the stretch.

CAHNER MANNS had an incredible night on the draw with a game-high nine setting a new season high after collecting eight on two different occasions, her last two outings before Wednesday.  Manns' four best performances on the draw this season have come in Piedmont's games against opponents from the Southern Athletic Association coming up with six in a win against Birmingham-Southern earlier in the year.

NEXT UP FOR PIEDMONT
The winner of the 1:00 pm semifinal between Piedmont and Ferrum will face the winner of Greensboro and Meredith who play in the second semifinal Friday afternoon starting at 3:30 pm.  Piedmont met Greensboro in the semifinals of last year's USA South championships defeating the Pride to get to the title game where the Lady Lions fell to Meredith in an OT thriller.
