Lady Lions Knock Over Scotties 20-1 At Agnes Scott

Megan McDowell led Piedmont's scoring with 4 goals in the 20-1 victory at USA South opponent Agnes Scott this afternoon.
Box Score Decatur, GA  Piedmont Women's Lacrosse dominated Agnes Scott 20-1 on the road this afternoon for their first USA South Conference victory. Eight seperate Lady Lions put points on the scoreboard today, led by sophomore Megan McDowell with five goals.

In the first half of play, Piedmont had 20 shots converting 12 into goals. Alexis Narducci started off the scoring just as she did in the previous game. Freshman Kayla Jones continued her helpful ways with the first assist; she led the game with 7 assists and leads the season with 13 now.

Mckynsey Douglas put goals two and four in split by McDowell's first of the match. In the seventh minute of action, Jenna Smith and Kayla Jones both scored to make the score 6-0. Just a minute later, McDowell found her second goal.

Under twenty minutes remaining in the first period, sophomore Maggie McDaniel helped out with assists on McDowell's third goal and Narducci's second goal. Unfortunately for the Lions defense, their clean sheet would not hold up as Agnes Scott scored their one and only goal at 16:11.

The final three goals of the 12-1 first half came from Douglas, McDowell, and Narducci with assists by Jones and Smith. Carly Haraka finished her half of play with a single save on two shots.

Only Kayla Jones scored in the first ten minutes of the second half off an assist by Julianna Surgent. Under twenty minutes remaining, Jenna Smith scored a pair split by sophomore Cahner Manns' sole goal of the game. Manns led the team in draw controls with seven in the win.

With the clock under ten minutes to go, Jones and McDowell scored their final goals of the match. McDaniel scored her second goal with five minutes left and Jenine Brideau pulled out a nice shot to get make the score an even 20-1 at 3:51 remaining.

The score stuck at the final buzzer with Piedmont outshooting Agnes Scott 31-4. Blake Forrest led the Lady Lions defense from goal in the second half but didn't face any shots.

With the win, Piedmont moves to 3-1 with a three-game win streak as well as scoring at least 20 points in each win. They will host USA South opponent Ferrum College this Saturday, March 1st at 11:00 AM followed by Greensboro College at 1:00 PM the next day.
