Lady Lions Topple USA South Rival LaGrange College, 19-4

Box Score LaGrange, GA - The Piedmont College Women's Lacrosse team completed their regular season schedule today with a victory over USA South Conference opponent and in-state rival LaGrange College by the score 19-4. The Lady Lions will host a quarterfinal round this Sunday for the USA South Tournament the following weekend.

The Lady Lions jumped ahead of the Panthers in less than :60 seconds with an unassisted goal by Kayla Freund. Alexis Narducci took the next possession and turned it into a goal as well; she would score a total of four goals in the half but not before Megan McDowell snuck in a goal of her own. The Panthers took advantage of a free position to get their first goal of the match halfway through the first half; their second of the half would come with time running out. The Lady Lions stepped off the field at half time with a 12-2 lead over LaGrange including goals by Victoria Petrassi, Cahner Manns, Megan McDowell, Elaine Rossignol and a first half buzzer-beater by Ashton Nash.

The second half was more of the same for Piedmont. Megan McDowell put three away in the half including the first and final goal. Carly Haraka put 60 minutes in front of the cage for the win, saving 8 shots and giving up the four. Eight Lady Lions contributed to the score in today's match led by Megan McDowell and Alexis Narducci with five goals each.

The Lady Lions move to 11-3 overall and 5-3 in the USA South Athletic Conference at the end of the regular season. Piedmont will host a quarterfinal round of the USA South Conference Tournament this Sunday at a time to be determined at Walker FIeld in Demorest, Georgia.
