Box Score Newport News, VA - Piedmont's Women's Lacrosse team was overwhelmed by the #17 nationally-ranked CNU Captains in today's USA South Conference match, 19-1. The Lady Lions were outshot 38-8, earning their single goal halfway into the second half.
The Captains appeared tenacious at the first whistle and quickly put five goals into Piedmont's cage within four minutes. The Lady Lions defense held off several more attacks giving up only two more goals in the following ten minutes of play.
Megan McDowell had a strong opportunity on goal with fourteen minutes on the clock but it was saved by the CNU keeper. The Captains were able to slip seven more balls past the Lady Lions defense before halftime.
In the second half, McDowell caused a turnover and counter-attacked but her shot went wide and possession changed.
Carly Haraka made a tough save in the fifth minute to keep the Captains honest. After several more Captain goals,

Megan McDowell in the Lions only goal halfway through the second half. Christopher Newport put in two more goals before the final whistle to seal the game and give Piedmont it's third loss overall and in conference play.
Carly Haraka made eight saves on the day.
The Lady Lions, now 10-3 overall and 4-3 in the USA South, will play again April 3rd against LaGrange LaGrange, GA to finish the regular season.
