DEMOREST, Georgia - The Piedmont College women's lacrosse team made school history this evening at Walker Field by posting the program's first-ever victory over visiting USA South Agnes Scott College by the score of 19-4. The Lady Lions offense was dominate outshooting the vissitors 32-7 en route to the landmark win.
After the Scotties jumped out with the first goal of the match Piedmont responded with eight goals over the next 25 minutes to take full command of the match. With three minutes remaining in the first period Agnes Scott would add a goal but the Lady Lions would counter with a pair of goals in the final two minutes to take a 10-2 advantage into intermission.
In the second period the home team added six more goals in the first 14 minutes. Despite the Scotties adding a pair of goals down the stretch the margin was too great to overcome and Piedmont walked away with the 15-goal victory.
MEGAN MCDOWELL and
ALEXIS NARDUCCI paced the Lady Lions with five goals apiece while
MAGGIE MCDANIEL added four goals. Between the pipes
KAYLA FREUND posted three saves for her first collegiate win. In addition Narducci now holds the distinction for the first-ever goal scored by a Piedmont College women's lacrosse player in school history.
The Lady Lions, now 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the USA South Conference, will return to action again on Saturday, February 23 as they welcome USA South member Meredith College to Walker Field starting at 12:00.
