Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College volleyball team gave 14-4 Berry College all the Vikings could handle but could not prevent the visitors from claiming their 15th win of the season. After rallying to even the sets at one a piece, Piedmont could not close the deal dropping the decision 3-1 to the in-state foe.
Over the first three sets, points could not have been closer with each set being deciding by two in tie-break fashion. In the opener, the two squads went point for point down the stretch with four ties and two lead changes occuring after both teams had crested the 20 point mark.
Berry finally came out on top 27-25 in the first set, but Piedmont would not go quietly into the night in set number two. Yet again, multiple lead changes occured after both teams crested the crucial 20 point barrier until the score deadlocked at 24 a piece.
The Lady Lions then found a way pulling out a 26-24 second set victory before the teams again found themselves tied at 24 in set number three. However, it was Berry who earned the hard fought third set win before pulling away in the fourth set to claim the 3-1 match win.
