Demorest, GA --
The Piedmont College volleyball team swept non-conference opponent Sewanee-University of the South earlier this evening taking a straight sets 3-0 win in the Cave.  The Lady Lions tallied only six errors on 67 attempts to grab their third consecutive victory improving to 13-11 on the season.

On a night where the host PC would allow no more than 15 points in any given set to the visiting Tigers, Piedmont went to work at the net early and often tallying eight kills in the opening set to earn a 25-10 win.  The Lady Lions then stepped it up a notch to defeat the visitors 25-15 and 25-11 in the next two sets taking a 3-0 match victory.

Right side hitter Heather Stafford kept her hot hand leading the squad in kills with ten on just 17 attempts while middle blocker Hallye Jerkins had a breakout night for the season tallying nine kills on just 11 attempts for an outrageous .727 hitting percentage.  The pair of hitters also worked on the defensive end to account for over three quarters of the team's total blocks.

Junior Rachel Powell and senior Kalin DeMarrais each added seven kills of their own to the fight as DeMarrais also tallied seven digs.  Leading the team in digs for the match was sophomore libero Paige Eslinger with 11 while Katheryn Knarr dished out 21 set assists for the night.

The Lady Lions now move to 13-11 overall and ready for a Friday night match at LaGrange College taking place on October 23.  The first serve is set to drop at 7:00 at the home of the in-state rival Panthers.
