WHAT'S UP NEXT:
- A couple of weeks off from competition before hitting the road to participate in the Methodist Invitational in Belmont, North Carolina over the weekend of October 9-10, a Friday-Saturday competition that will be the fourth of four fall tournaments planned on the schedule.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:
Hear from Head Women's Tennis Coach
Trey Martin on his team's performance over the weekend: "I'm really proud of the way our three girls competed this weekend. They faced tough matches against some of the best teams in the Southeast and represented Piedmont well. Coach Silas stepped into the head coaching role for the weekend, and I'm impressed with the way he led them. It was a valuable experience for him and a great weekend for our program. It was also really cool to see Caroline go out and win her singles draw without dropping a set."
INSIDE THE LINEUP:
- A trio of singles slots went to Piedmont who also put in the doubles team of
Caroline Morrison and
Kaleigh Stallworth.
- Morrison / Stallworth won their first doubles match-up 8-1 over Spinks and Smith of Millsaps but fell to a Sewanee pairing in the following round.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- The obvious choice is
Caroline Morrison who won her GOLD Draw (C Draw) going 3-0 on the weekend including singles wins over MUW, Berry, and Rhodes as she dropped only two games over the final two matches.
-
Amelie Grace Robinson won two of her singles matches in the event, including a 3-setter against Allison Bizub of Sewanee, one of the premier programs in the South Region as well as the country.
-
Kaleigh Stallworth also got a dubs in singles action knocking off Laura Camara Blanco of MUW 2 and 2.
