HELEN, Ga. - In a quick turnaround, the Piedmont cycling team traveled to Helen to compete in the Helen Gran Fondo after the Athens Twilight event.
Due to the high winds in the morning, the race got delayed two hours and the course was shortened by 25 miles. Despite the high wins and shortened course, the team performed strongly.
In the Men's U23, the Piedmont team swept the top five with Shannon Himstedt in 1st, Pearson Bruhn in 2nd, Kaden Zimish in 3rd, Gerasimos Agoudemos in 4th and Tyler Rogers in 5th.
In the Women's U23, Grace Wilson secured 1st and Katie Prowell placed 3rd. In the women's 23-34, Emma Frost finished first.
Overall, the team put together a strong showing at the event.
