MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Piedmont women's tennis picked up another unanswered conference win on the road against the Maryville Scots on Friday afternoon, moving to 6-0 in conference.

The Lions got off to a racing start in doubles, with sophomore duo Caroline Morrison and Sarah Sanabia finishing first in a quick 6-1 outing at No. 2. Within minutes, Hattie Sloyan and Sarah Row captured the doubles point 6-0 at No. 3.

With the point already decided, No. 1 doubles triumphed 7-5, setting the tone for competitive singles matches.

Freshman Ella Kate Canaday hit the ground running at No. 2 singles, winning 6-3, 6-4 to bring the Lions to 2-0 early on. Meanwhile, Morrison battled through a tough first set 7-6 (5) before taking the second set 6-3 with ease at No. 3.

Canaday and Morrison's wins allowed Hattie Sloyan and Olivia Carpenter to take the court at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, while freshman Kaleigh Stallworth battled in a full third set at No. 1.

Quality performances from Sloyan and Carpenter in their first sets provided reassurance for Stallworth as she entered into a 7-point third-set tiebreaker, after going 2-6, 6-2 in her early sets.

Stallworth persevered to a 7-6 (4) third set win at No. 1 singles, delivering a dazzling clinch which would provide a surge of energy for the remainder of the match. Sloyan finished 6-2, 6-0, quickly followed by Carpenter's 6-1, 6-1 win to bring the lions to 6-0 with one match left to play.

To close out the day, sophomore Halee Harper won 6-0, 6-0 to secure the shutout over the Scots.

Up next, the Lions travel to Wilmore, Ky. on April 11 to face the Eagles of Asbury at 10 a.m.
