ATLANTA - Piedmont women's tennis freshman
Ella Kate Canaday has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Gainesville, Georgia native has now earned three total athlete of the week nods from the CCS, with a Doubles Team of the Week honor as well early in the season.
This past week, Canaday delivered a perfect record across singles and doubles, winning her lone singles match while going 2-0 in doubles with two different doubles partners.
Her lone singles result came in a lopsided 6-1, 6-1 match-clinching victory at No. 2 to lift the Lions to a dominant 6-1 home win over Covenant.
In doubles, she teamed with
Caroline Morrison to win, 6-0, at No. 2 against Belhaven before moving up to the top spot and winning, 6-2, against Covenant's top doubles team alongside fellow freshman
Kaleigh Stallworth.
Up next, Canaday and the Lions are in action this afternoon with a split squad. One group will take on JWU on the road in Charlotte, North Carolina while another group will play host to Agnes Scott in a CCS conference match, scheduled for 4 p.m.
