CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Piedmont University men's swimming team brought home the trophy once again at the Independent South Conference Meet as they pulled ahead in the final two days of the meet to secure the three-peat.
The Lions flexed their depth and stamina as they found their way into top two finishes in several events, netting them the points for their championship win.
Piedmont finished second in every relay in the meet but made up with it with their wins in several key individual races.
Perry Westbrook won the 500 yard freestyle by a massive margin with a final time of 5:02.49 and picked up another first place finish in the men's mile with a final time of 18:22.21. Piedmont's Beckham Korb finished third in the mile with a final time of 19:55.96.
Luke Borgmann brought home multiple second place finishes that helped the Lions, but his biggest contribution came in the 100 yard butterfly where he won with a final time of 51:73.
Piedmont dominated in the 200 yard butterfly with
Preston Allen coming in second with a time of 2:12.87 to teammate
Brady Bowman who brought home first in the event with a final time of 2:03.89.
Piedmont's consistency throughout showed to be its biggest strength as they led after day two and continued building that lead to their conference victory.
This marks the end of another successful season for the men's swimming team and another season that once again ends with a trophy coming back to Demorest.
