Senior Spotlight: Swimming By Joseph Garwood: Director of Athletic Communications 2/10/2026 12:00:00 PM 2026 Men's & Women's Swimming Senior Spotlight L to R (Sydney Trafton, Baden Stewart, Maggie Robinson, Tressie Polk, Alex Pangelinan, Caroline Massaro, Luke Borgmann, Maggie Bishop These eight seniors mark the second full senior class for Piedmont men's and women's swimming and have helped establish a championship culture for the Lions over their careers. In the four years these student-athletes have been on campus, Piedmont has captured four combined Independent South Swimming Conference Championships, with two on the both the men's and women's side. Several of these seniors hold school records and their impact on the program is immeasurable. MAGGIE BISHOP | MOULTRIE, GA. Bishop has appeared in over 20 meets over her four seasons with the Lions. She is a two-time All-Conference honoree of the Independent South (ISSC). In both 2023 and 2024, Bishop placed third in the 1650 free at the ISSC Conference Meet, helping the Lions to a title both times. In the classroom, Bishop is a multiple time Academic All-Conference honoree and was also named to the 2024 CSC Academic All-District Team. A triple major, she plans to graduate with degrees in documentary and film production, sports communication and mass communications. LUKE BORGMANN | FRANKLIN, N.C. Borgmann has swam in over 20 meets over his time at Piedmont. He is a multiple-time ISSC Conference Champion. Earning All-Conference honors in each of his first two seasons, Borgmann broke out in his freshman season, placing second in the 200 fly at the ISSC Conference Meet before taking third in 2024. In the classroom, he has also earned ISSC All-Academic honors. Borgmann plans to graduate with a degree in business management. CAROLINE MASSARO | OXFORD, GA. Massaro has appeared in nearly 30 meets over her career, setting new numerous records and racking up accolades at an historic rate. She is a four-time Independent South All-Conference Member and a two-time conference champion. In the 2024-25 season alone, Massaro won seven events, including the 200 back at the ISSC Conference Meet. She currently holds the program records in the 100 and 200 back. Massaro is a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree and also a multiple time Academic All-Conference honoree. She plans to graduate with a degree in elementary education. ALEX PANGELINAN | STOCKBRIDGE, GA. Pangelinan has appeared in a dozen meets over his time with the Lions. He is an Independent South All-Conference member in 2024 and also has earned a spot on the ISSC All-Academic Team as well. At the 2024 ISSC Conference Meet, Pangelinan was a member of the 400 free relay team that delivered a second-place finish. Alex plans to graduate with a degree in computer science. TRESSIE POLK | WOODSTOCK, GA. Polk has appeared in nearly 30 meets over four seasons with the Lions. She is a three-time Independent South All-Conference honoree as well as a multiple Academic All-Conference team member. In her debut season, Polk saved her best for the biggest moment, swimming three personal bests at the ISSC Conference Meet. In her sophomore season, she placed second in the 200 fly and third in the 100 fly before racking up three more top fives at the conference meet in 2025. Polk plans to graduate with a degree in forensic science. MAGGIE ROBINSON | CANTON, GA. Robinson has appeared in seven meets for the Lions after transferring into the program midway through her junior season. She earned three Independent South All-Conference placements in her debut season at Piedmont, placing third in the 500 free, fourth in the 200 free and fifth in the 1650 free. This season, she has helped the Lions to a pair of relay wins. Maggie plans to graduate with degrees in civil engineering and engineering praxis. BADEN STEWART | DULUTH, GA. Stewart has appeared in 20 meets over his time at Piedmont. He is a two-time Independent South All-Conference honoree, having earned placements in 2023 and 2025. Stewart took home fifth place in the 100 back and the 100 free in both 2023 and 2025. In the 2024-25 campaign, he picked up two wins in the 50 free. Stewart plans to graduate with a degree in computer science. SYDNEY TRAFTON | DOUGLASVILLE, GA. Trafton has appeared in nearly 20 meets over her three seasons with the Lions. She is a two-time Independent South All-Conference honoree, earning honors in both the 2024 and 2025 seasons. In 2025, Trafton placed fourth in the 400 IM to earn her spot. During the 2024-25 season, she picked up wins in the 100 breast and 200 breast in a double dual vs. Columbia and Greensboro. Sydney plans to graduate with a degree in engineering science.
