SEASON RECAP: Men's Swimming 2024-25

• The Lions repeated as ISSC Conference Champions, running away from the pack to capture the trophy.
• Senior Leandro Forero was named ISSC Men's Swimmer of the Year after a dominant performance at the conference meet.
• As a team, the Lions delivered a 7-1 record over the fall and spring seasons.
• 15 Lions earned All-Conference honors for their performance at the conference meet.
• Forero, Erick Fortner and Perry Westbrook all earned CSC Academic All-District honors.

• Senior Leandro Forero broke the school record in the 1000 yard freestyle, which he had previously set two years ago. In addition to the record, he also won the 100 yard butterfly (55.57), 500 yard freestyle (5:00.77)
• Murphy O'Brien claimed the 200 yard freestyle, swimming a 1:55.82 while Reid Barnes claimed the win in the 50 yard backstroke (26.39). O'Brien also went on to win the 100 yard backstroke in 57.46 and the 100 yard IM in1:00.01 later on in the meet.
• In one of the closest races of the meet, Erick Fortner held off Sam Teed by just .46 seconds to win the 50 yard breaststroke (28.21). Fortner also held off Teed in the 100 yard breaststroke, this time by just .92 seconds (1:03.32).
• With a 23.77, Baden Stewart narrowly bested Alex Pangelinan by just over one second in the 50 yard freestyle to take the win.
• Newcomer Henry Rickman picked up his first win in the 100 yard freestyle, turning in a time of 51.10. Fellow newcomer Preston Allen took home the win in the 50 yard butterfly (25.42), besting Pangelinan by just .29 seconds.

• Competing in its first overall meet of the spring season and the team's only scheduled meet at home, the Lions were victorious in all 14 events in which they competed.
• Prior to the meet, seniors Leandro Forero, Erick Fortner, Glynn Morgan, Kyle Rutberg and Draylon Starks were honored for their contributions to the program.
• Forero and Fortner each enjoyed outstanding afternoons, picking up three solo wins each.
• Forero came away victorious in the 1000 and the 500 free along with a win in the 100 fly. Fortner matched his fellow senior, winning the 200 free and 100 breast and breaking his own school record in the 100 IM with a time of 55.15.

• The Lions dominated from start to finish and closed in style with more wins and a school record falling on Saturday night.
• Leandro Forero was named ISSC Swimmer of the Year after picking up four total wins over the three days.
• Piedmont saw victories in all four events Thursday including a clean sweep of the top five in the 500 free. Leandro Forero claimed the individual win with a 4:50.63 as Perry Westbrook followed him with a 4:51.50. Glynn Morgan, Ryan Smith and Carmen Yeager rounded out the top five in the 500 free. 
• Sam Teed won the men's 50 free with a 22.01 while Preston Allen finished fourth in the event (22.51). Erick Fortner won the 200 IM with a 2:00.14 to win by over three seconds. Murphy O'Brien came in second while Brendan Fraher was fifth. 
• Already leading by a substantial margin heading into the final day, the Lions left no doubt with another outstanding performance to close out the championship.
• Finally, with the outcome in hand, the Lions capped off the event with a win in the 400 free relay as Forero, Fortner, O'Brien and Rickman tacked on another win and were under a second from setting a new school record.
