ATLANTA - Piedmont women's tennis delivered a clean sweep of the first week of the Collegiate Conference of the South weekly awards, which were released Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore
Sarah Sanabia took home Player of the Week, while freshman
Kaleigh Stallworth was named Rookie of the Week. The pair also picked up CCS Doubles Team of the Week honors after teaming up for a win at No. 1 doubles.
The duo combined to help the Lions earn three points in a 7-0 win at Huntingdon in a non-conference road triumph to begin the 2026 spring season.
The duo teamed up at No. 1 doubles, clinching the doubles point for Piedmont with a 6-2 victory.
Then, in singles action, Stallworth put the Lions within a point of clinching the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1, her first dual singles victory in a Piedmont uniform.
Although the match was in hand when Sanabia finished, the sophomore from Acworth, Georgia rallied from down a set to win the second set and then took a match tiebreak to help ensure a Piedmont shutout to start the season.
These mark the first career weekly awards for both Stallworth and Sanabia.
Up next, the Lions will not be in action this week, but return to the courts with a split squad on Thursday, Feb. 19, with one group hosting Oglehtorpe in the home opener while another travels to LaGrange to take on the Panthers in a non-conference matchup.
