2025 PIEDMONT WOMEN'S LACROSSE SEASON RECAP

  • Piedmont posted an impressive 8-1 record in USA South play with a 13-6 overall mark in 2025.
  • The Lions coasted in almost every conference win, outscoring opponents 167-21 in those eight conference victories. 
  • Piedmont's most challenging win came at home over Methodist with an 11-10 victory over the Monarchs. 
  • A pair of career records fell in 2025 as Aly Reece became the program's all-time leader in assists while Merryn Bumpass put herself atop the career mark in goals scored. 
  • Methodist earned revenge as Piedmont lost in the USA South semifinals to the Monarchs 14-11.

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

  • Piedmont women's lacrosse took home another dominant win, rolling past Huntingdon 24-1  in Demorest.
  • Sophomore Savannah Limehouse delivered a career-high nine points, with her final assist giving her 100 career points in not even two full seasons with the Lions.
  • However, it was Laura Crone who led the team in total points, with 10 on five goals and five assists. Her five goals and 10 points each marked career highs for the junior. 
  • All-time career assist leader Aly Reece paced the team with six assists on the evening while fellow senior Merryn Bumpass marked the fourth Lion to deliver a hat trick, scoring three times while dishing out three assists and also leading the team with three caused turnovers.

  • In a back-and-forth battle that came down to the wire, Piedmont women's lacrosse outlasted Methodist to win an 11-10 thriller.
  • Although the Lions never trailed in the game, the Monarchs never went away, tying the game at 10-10 with just over four minutes to go. However, junior Lovette Choloh came through in the clutch, scoring her third and final goal of the game on a free position shot with just over two minutes remaining.
  • From there, the defense held steady as Piedmont ran out the clock to ice the one goal victory over the Monarchs.
  • Rachel Verner was outstanding in goal, tying her season high with 13 saves.

  • Piedmont women's lacrosse left no doubt in a 23-0 shutout of Huntingdon in USA South Tournament First Round action in Demorest.
  • Merryn Bumpass' five-goal performance highlighted the day as the senior became the program's all-time leading goal scorer in her final home game. The senior from Keller, Texas opened the scoring just over 20 seconds into the game and eventually broke the record with her fifth and final goal, coming early in the second half.
  • All-time program assist leader Aly Reece and Carson Bezold shared the wealth all day, with both tallying six assists while Ava Trankina added five assists to go with a pair of goals.
  • Piedmont played stifling defense as well, holding the Hawks to just 1-of-20 on clear attempts in the game. The Lions forced 28 Huntingdon turnovers and did not allow a shot on goal.
