Senior Spotlight: Women's Lacrosse By Joseph Garwood: Director of Athletic Communications 3/14/2025 9:30:00 AM 2025 Women's Lacrosse Senior Spotlight L to R: Rachel Verner, Aly Reece, Jaiden Ramatowski, Kaylee Moreland, Merryn Bumpass, Ava Trankina, Mallory O'Brien These seven seniors have helped the Lions to 36 overall wins and a 22-8 USA South record over the last four seasons. The last two seasons they have helped Piedmont to USA South Tournament Semifinal appearances and have combined for 7 USA South Player of the Week honors and 5 USA South all-conference appearances. Off the field, they have combined for 10 Academic All-Conference nods and a pair of appearances on the CSC Academic All-District Team #3 KAYLEE MORELAND | BUFORD, GA. Moreland has played in 37 games and made 24 starts over three seasons with the Lions. Kaylee opened strong as a freshman in 2022, with four multi-goal games including in back-to-back wins against N.C. Wesleyan and Greensboro. She was also fourth on the team in draw controls with 24 in her debut season. Off the field, she is a two-time member of the USA South All-Academic Team and was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team in 2023. Moreland plans to graduate with a degree in exercise science. #5 AVA TRANKINA | JOHNS CREEK, GA. Trankina has played in and started 47 games over three seasons in Demorest. She has made her name in the record books, as she ranks 5th in program history with 139 goals, 3rd with 82 assists and her 221 points is currently tied for 2nd. Ava is a two-time All-USA South honoree and has been named USA South Offensive Player of the Week 3 times as well as Defensive Player of the Week twice. She has scored a career high of 5 goals on four occasions and has reached six assists in a game twice, including once last week in a win over N.C. Wesleyan. Trankina was a USA South All-Academic Team member in 2023. She plans to graduate with a degree in forensic science. #10 JAIDEN RAMATOWSKI | CANTON, GA. Ramatowski has appeared in 56 games and made 48 starts over her four years at Piedmont. Jaiden has scored four goals, dished out one assist, collected 40 ground balls and added 33 draw controls. She scored twice in 2022 and once in each of the last two seasons. In her debut campaign, Jaiden ranked third on the team with 30 draw controls. She plans to graduate with a degree in applied health science. #13 MALLORY O'BRIEN O’Brien has played in 54 games and made 34 starts as a defender in her four seasons with the Lions. She has scored one goal but has added 52 career ground balls and 23 caused turnovers. She scored her first and only goal against William Peace last season. On the defensive end, Mallory tied for 3rd on the team with 15 caused turnovers in 2022. Off the field, she is a two-time USA South All-Academic Team selection. She plans to graduate with degrees in finance and accounting. #14 MERRYN BUMPASS | KELLER, TEXAS Bumpass has played in 61 contests and made 60 starts over four seasons in Demorest. She has made her mark in the program record books, as she enters today’s game with 216 career points, which is tied for fourth while also ranking in the top 10 with 143 goals and 73 assists. Merryn is a two-time All-USA South 2nd Team honoree and has taken home two USA South weekly awards. Bumpass has reached her career high of 5 goals three times in her career and has dished out five assists twice. Off the field, she is a two-time USA South All-Academic Team member. Merryn plans to graduate with a degree in biology. #25 ALY REECE | BUFORD, GA. Reece has appeared in 59 contests and made 56 starts over four seasons at Piedmont. She has scored 68 goals but is currently second in program history with 123 assists while her 191 points ranks in the program top 10. Aly was an All-USA South Third Team member last season. Always willing to find the open teammate, last season Reece set the single game program assist record with 10 against Brevard on her way to also setting a new program mark for assists in a season with 57. In the classroom, Reece has been a two-time Academic All-Conference honoree and was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team in 2023. She plans to graduate with a degree in sport and fitness administration. #27 RACHEL VERNER | ATHENS, GA. Verner has appeared in 47 games in goal and has made 14 starts over four seasons at Piedmont. She has recorded 172 career saves and has five goalie wins while collecting 40 career ground balls including a career-high 23 last season. Rachel has five career games with double digit saves and is coming off a 12-save performance last time out in a close win for Piedmont over UMass Dartmouth in Puerto Rico. Off the field, she was a USA South All-Academic Team member in 2023. Verner plans to graduate with a degree in accounting.
