Women's Track & Field Picked First in CCS Preseason Coaches Poll

ATLANTA - Piedmont women's track & field has been selected at the top of the Collegiate Conference of the South Preseason Coaches Poll, released Thursday afternoon.

With the indoor season in the books and the outdoor campaign slated to start this weekend, the Lions are the favorites to take their second CCS title in three seasons in the league.

Piedmont took home 24 total points in the voting and received 4-of-6 first-place votes, just ahead of runner-up Belhaven, which tallied 18 points and the remaining two first-place votes.

Behind the Lions and Blazers sits Covenant at 13 points and Maryville with 11 points.

Asbury (9) and Huntingdon (5) round out the bottom of the listing.

Although the Lions must replace departed 2024 CCS Field Athlete of the Meet Nakiyah Washington, the team has a deep stable of throwers and should stand out on the distance side as well, led by junior Skyler Seeber.

Piedmont is scheduled to begin the outdoor season this weekend, with a trip to Central, South Carolina for the Southern Wesleyan Opener.

The 2025 CCS Women's Track and Field Championship opens on Wednesday, April 23 and is capped by final events on Thursday, April 24, hosted by Maryville College.
