FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - After a historically dominant performance at this past week's MCC Women's Intercollegiate, Piedmont junior women's golfer
Erin Donovan has been named USA South Women's Golfer of the Week, announced by the league office Wednesday.
Â
The Southaven, Mississippi native delivered a record-breaking performance in the 36-hole event in Montgomery, Alabama, separating from a field that included many of the nation's best and posting rounds of 66 and 70 on her way to a four-stroke victory.
Â
Donovan's 36-hole total of 136 marked a Piedmont women's golf program record that had stood for over a decade.
Her first round of 6-under 66 also set a Piedmont record, breaking her own mark which she set last season by three strokes. She also helped Piedmont set a new team record for low 36 hole total at 610.
Â
This marks Donovan's eighth USA South Women's Golfer of the week honor after she picked up her sixth individual low medalist or co-medalist honor of her career.
So far this season, Donovan has been at par or better in three of her four rounds played.
