RICHMOND, Va. - Piedmont women's golf concluded the Stith Invitational with the final round on Tuesday in Virginia, moving up a spot to claim a solo ninth place finish.
On the individual side,
Erin Donovan fired a second consecutive solid round of 1-over 73 to bank a tie for 10th to lead the team. The senior from Southaven, Mississippi had three birdies on her card and nothing worse than bogey on her way to a familiar spot in the top 10.
Although Donovan was the only Lion to shoot in the 70's, the remaining three counting score were all in a five shot spread in the 80's. The group was led by junior
Keegan Goins, who carded a final round of 8-over 80.
Then, it was a pair of freshmen, with
Addison Maney posting an 82 while
Lila Polakowski added an 85.
The third freshmen of the trio competing in the tournament,
Aubree Hill delivered a 90 in the final round.
NYU took home the team title by 12 strokes ahead of runner-up Washington & Lee.
Piedmont was just one shot out of eighth place, just behind Lynchburg.
Up next, the Lions will return home and prep for the USA South Conference Tournament, set for Monday, April 20 in Sanford, North Carolina.
