MONTGOMERY, Ala. -
Erin Donovan shot a Piedmont record 66 (-6) in the opening round of the MCC Women's Intercollegiate Sunday. Donovan's impressive round leads the field as Piedmont sits tied for seventh of 12 teams.
Donovan carded seven birdies with just one bogey on the day. She previously tied the Piedmont record with her final round of the 2024 USA South Championship shooting a 69 (-3), breaking her own record Sunday.
Donovan birdied four times on the back nine to make the turn leading with a 32 through nine holes.
Sarah Fox was the lone other Lion to birdie on the back nine finishing with a 79.
Keegan Goins picked up a pair of birdies on the front nine at three and five to finish with an 81.
Abigail Evans was the final counting score shooting an 84 with a birdie on three.
Marissa Weaver competed in her second event of her career with a 102 on Sunday.
Up next, round two of the MCC Women's Intercollegiate will be Monday.
