NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. - Piedmont's Erin Donovan officially advanced past the cut and into the third round and final round of the NCAA DIII Championships, as second round play concluded Friday morning and the third round commenced in the afternoon.

As one of the top-six among the players competing as individuals plus players from non-advancing teams, Donovan earned the right to play Thursday and Friday.

Entering the day at +7, she fired her second round of 2-over 74, mirroring Tuesday's opening round on the scorecard.

 

After the second round concluded around noon on Friday following another weather delay, the groups were sent out for the third round with a shotgun start. 

Starting on hole 18, Donovan opened with a par and then a bogey at the 1st hole before settling her round with four consecutive pars.

Then, on the par-3 6th, the lid was finally lifted as she capitalized on an excellent approach and buried her first birdie of the day to move back to even par for the round.

Two holes later, she struck again, making birdie for the third time in three days on the par-5 8th after a great pitch shot led to a tap in.

Following a bogey at the difficult 10th, Donovan bounced back by firing a dart at the par-5 11th and sinking the putt to move to -1 for the day.

Unfortunately, Donovan played her final three holes in 3-over par with a double bogey at the last.

However, she still moved up the leaderboard as she sits in the top-20 going into the final round.

Carnegie Mellon's Alexis Sudjianto and Emory's Ellen Dong share the individual lead at 1-under par.

Up next, Donovan is slated to tee off at 9:40 a.m. off hole 10.
