SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Piedmont women's golf completed the first round of the USA South Women's Championship on Monday afternoon at the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The Lions find themselves in fourth place out of seven teams competing but are just two behind third-place Southern Virginia with 36 holes to play.
Recently named USA South Player of the Year
Erin Donovan led the Lions on Monday, carding a 3-over 75 to find herself in a tie for third place, just two strokes back of the top spot.

Donovan made a pair of birdies on her day, and closed out her round strong, making five consecutive pars to end her round.

Keegan Goins matched Donovan for the top spot on the team with two birdies on the day, coming in with an 83. Goins played her final four holes of the day in 1-under, including a birdie at the par-3 8th, her second to last hole of the day.
Junior
Sarah Fox delivered an 87 and
Abigail Evans came in with an 89 as the final two counting scores for the Lions.
Methodist leads on the team side by 15 shots over second-place Huntingdon. The Monarchs' Jenna Rutledge fired the round of the day, and sits atop the individual leaderboard at 1-over.
Up next, the second round will get underway on Tuesday morning, with the Lions getting started at 8:50 a.m. off of hole No. 10.
