JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The Piedmont University women's golf team made major strides on Saturday shooting a 314 as a team, shaving off 19 strokes from round one.
Erin Donovan led the way with a one over par 73 in the second round.
Donovan improved from a tie for 22nd to sitting inside the top ten at tied for 8th after a 73 on Saturday. The sophomore made three birdies in round two with just four bogeys on the day and no doubles.
Sarah Fox carded a 75 taking off eight strokes from round one as she made four birdies in the round. Fox tied her best round of the season with a 75.
Keegan Goins was consistent with an 84 on day two while
Shelby Clark was able to take six strokes off with an 82.
Abigail Evans also improved in the second round shooting an 89.
Wellesley took the team lead after shooting a 299 in the second round as one of two teams to shoot in the 200s for its team score Saturday. There is a three-way tie at the top at 149 as
Erin Donovan sits just three strokes back from the lead.
Up next for Piedmont, the Lions will compete in round three Sunday to conclude the event.
