SAVANNAH, Ga. - Coming off an individual title,
Erin Donovan is continuing to impress shooting an even par 72 in the opening round of the Savannah Invitational on Monday. The Lions sit tied for 14th overall shooting a 321 as a team.
Donovan started strong on the back nine shooting -2 with birdies on 10 & 12, going -2 in the first three holes. The current USA South Golfer of the Week held steady with no bogeys on her first nine holes and made just two total in the round. She sits just two strokes back off the leader Morgan Mussatt from Randolph-Macon.
Behind Donovan was senior
Sarah Fox who shot an 81 with a pair of birdies while
Keegan Goins carded an 83. Goins also managed a pair of birdies as all five Lions on the course Monday managed at least one birdie.
Shelby Clark, the reigning USA South Rookie of the Week, shot an 85 while
Abigail Evans carded a 90.
Carnegie Mellon leads the event after shooting a 296 (+8) on day one. The 321 for Piedmont marked the best team score of the spring through three rounds.
Up next for the Lions is round two with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
