MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Piedmont University women's golf team faced a short week with a quick turnaround for round one of the Montgomery Women's Intercollegiate. The Lions sit in 11th as a team led by
ERIN DONOVAN's 76 on Sunday.
Donovan struggled out of the gate on the back nine shooting +6 but ended strong with a birdie on 18. After the turn, the sophomore was able to lock in and shot -2 on the front with two birdies and no bogeys.
Her 76 put her two strokes ahead of
SARAH FOX who carded a 78 after a pair of birdies herself. Fox did not shoot over bogey in the round.
Freshman
KEEGAN GOINS was the other Lion to record a birdie Sunday with a birdie on four as she shot an 80.
CAITLYN CHILITO rounded out the team score for Piedmont with an 87 while
SAVANNAH BAREFOOT shot an 88.
Carnegie Mellon leads the event as a team with a 290 (+2) while Emory's Derica Chiu shot a 68 (-4) to lead the field individually.
The Lions will conclude the event with round two on Monday.
