MILLINGTON, Tenn. - The Piedmont University women's golf team set the school record for low team round on Monday with a 300 in round two of the Joe and Lee Duncan Invitational. ERIN DONOVAN led the Lions as she is currently in third place shooting -2 through 36 holes. 
 

Donovan came in under par in the opening round of play with a 71, marking her first round of her sophomore season under par. She carded three birdies on the front nine and shot just one bogey on the back. 

In round two, Donovan's consistency proved key as she was able to replicate her earlier success with another under par 71. Round two saw Donovan card five birdies including the final three holes to end the day. 

 

SARAH FOX was also consistent with two rounds in the 70s shooting a 78 followed by a 75. The junior added five birdies including two on the back nine in round two. 

Round two saw Piedmont card four scores in the 70s as CAITLYN CHILITO bounced back from an 82 to score a 76. Piedmont's final score in the 70s for round two came from SAVANNAH BAREFOOT who also used round two to settle in with an 89 to open followed by a 78. 

Newcomer KEEGAN GOINS was steady with an 81 in the first round and an 82 in round two. SHELBY CLARK competed as an individual with a 76 to open and an 86 on the second 18.

As a team, Piedmont had 24 birdies on the day plus four from individual SHELBY CLARK. The 24 birdies ranks third among the teams competing with just Huntingdon and Mississippi College totaling more at 28 each. 

The 300 shaves four strokes off the previous school record set last season at the Rhodes Classic, also in round two. 

The Lions will continue action at the Joe and Lee Duncan Invitational Tuesday.
