CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Piedmont University Track and Field team headed to Lee University to participate in the Lee University Invitational this past Saturday.

The meet was highlighted by multiple top 10 finishes, ample top 5 finishes and a win in the 800m dash for DARIUS SMITH. Smith ran a 1:53.75 in the event.

SILAS GOOLSBY had an outstanding day for the Lions, turning in multiple top 5 finishes. In the 110m hurdles, he finished in 4th place (15.45) while also finishing 4th in the 400m hurdles (57.05). Teammate GARRETT STADLER finished directly behind Goolsby in the 400m hurdles with a 57.49. 

Samantha Seymour had a brilliant day for Piedmont, turning in four top 10 finishes. Her first one came in the high jump, where she placed 5th (1.46m). She followed this with a 9th place finish in the long jump (10.46m) and 5th place finish in the 400m hurdles (1:15.18). In the triple jump, she placed 6th (10.18m), placing behind teammate RINDY GRUBB who came in 5th (10.46m) and just ahead of KAI DOYLE who came in 7th (10.15m).

In the long jump, Chris Donereaux placed 4th with a distance of 5.98m. He wasn't finished on the day, dropping a PR time in the 100m dash with a 10.80.

Thrower NAKIYAH WASHINGTON found success on the day as she finished 6th in the shot put with a distance of 10.77m and 9th in the discus with her best toss going 31.09m.

Teammate ALLIE FELTUS placed second in the discuss (37.72m) and 5th in the hammer throw (36.30m). WHITNEY DARSEY also placed in the top 10 in the hammer throw with a distance of 35.86, less than a meter behind Feltus.

The longest event of the day, the 5000m, the Lions picked up two top 10 finishes on the men's side with LAYTON BRADFORD crossing in 8th (16:18.63) and WALKER CAPELLE crossing in 10th (16:24.42).

PETER SLIGH and TUCKER COX went back to back for 4th (10:45.50) and 5th (11:04.15) in the 3000m Steeplechase while JACOB BALOT finished 8th in the 400m (52.38). 

Up next, Piedmont goes back on the road to the GottaRun Invite on Friday, March 31.
