DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont University track and field program found tons of success at the USC Open, with multiple school records being broken. The meet was highlighted by the DMR school record being broken on both the men's and women's side and once again JAYCIE PONCE breaking another school record.

This time, Ponce set her sights on the 800m dash record, running a 2:23.26 and breaking the record previously held by Annalee Bradach. Her time also earned her a 7th place finish in the event.

The squad of CONNOR CREEDON, JACOB BALOT, DARIUS SMITH and GARY HALVERSON broke the school DMR record, running a 10:29.40 as a unit. The record was previously held by these four men and was just one second slower than the new record set at the event. Their time at the event also awarded them first place. 

On the women's side, ANNA GIBSON, BELLA CACCAMO, LEEANN LAWRENCE and JAYCIE PONCE broke the school DMR record, running a 13:28.58. Ponce and Lawrence were a part of the previous team to hold this record while Caccamo and Gibson now join them in Lady Lions history. The squad finished second overall in the event at the meet. 

DARIUS SMITH picked up a top 10 finish for the Lions as he crossed in 4th in the men's 800m, turning in a time of 1:53.60.

In the men's mile, GARY HALVERSON finished in 4th place, running a 4:23.10. Teammates LAYTON BRADFORD and Jadon Gonzalez also found top 10 finishes in the men's 3k, coming in 7th (9:15.30) and 8th (9:18.61). Bradford's time was a PR for him.

The Lions continued to crush the longer distance events as Bradford turned in his second top 10 finish in the men's 5k, crossing at 15:53.49 in 9th place. 

In the 4x400 relay, the team of Garret Stadler,CHRIS DONSEREAUX, EDWIN ELLIS and SILAS GOOLSBY turned in a time of 3:31.41 for a 10th place finish.

Additionally, Wesley Rogers PR'ed in the men's pole vault (3.95m), ABBY MAULDIN PR'ed in the women's weight throw (11.10m), ANNA GIBSON PR'ed (2:30.17) in the women's 800m with teammate Lawrence right behind her with a PR time of 2:35.88.
