LEXINGTON, Ky. - Piedmont freshmen
LIZZIE HAMILTON and
SARAH FOX finished tied for 36th overall to lead the Lady Lions as Piedmont placed 6th of 10 teams at the Transylvania Invitational. Fox finished the tournament with the best round of any Lady Lion at the event carding an 83.
Fox's 83 came thanks to a +4 front nine as she improved in each round. Hamilton improved her score once again with an 86 as she shaved off a stroke in each of the three rounds.
Fellow freshman
SELAH ANDERSON finished tied for 38th with a 89 on Sunday and
CARSON WEINER finished top 40 as well with a 91. Weiner and
MORGAN CALHOUN competed as individuals with Calhoun carding a 97 in the final round.
MATTIE MORRIS and
SAVANNAH BAREFOOT finished tied for 45th as Barefoot shot an 87 and Morris, who carded the only birdie of the final round for Piedmont, shot an 89.
Centre College won the event with a team score of 885 while Piedmont's team score was 1050. Centre's Rylee Suttor won the event finishing -5 for the tournament.
Up next, Piedmont will travel to Montgomery, Alabama for the MCC Intercollegiate Invitational beginning September 12.
