FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Piedmont women's tennis team dominated the end-of-year conference awards from the USA South as they were released Thursday afternoon.

IMANI VINCENT took home USA South Player of the Year honors while Head Coach Trey Martin earned Coach of the Year. Vincent joined senior
MEGAN WALDHEIM on the All-USA South First Team while both Vincent and Waldheim were joined by freshman
ABBEY GRACE VENHAM on the All-USA South West Division First Team. Senior stalwarts
MAGGIE MOODY and
KARA LANDSIEDELÂ earned All-USA South West Division Second Team honors.
IMANI VINCENT, USA South Player of the Year, All-USA South First Team, All-USA South West Division First Team
Vincent improved upon a stellar debut season by vaulting up in the lineup to the No. 1 spot at singles and continuing her domination of the USA South. The sophomore from Lawrenceville, Georgia took home three USA South Player of the Week awards and was a perfect 6-0 in USA South singles matches. All six of those wins were in straight sets and in four of them, she prevailed 6-0, 6-0. In doubles action, she partnered with freshman
MELISSA GISH at the No. 2 spot and went 3-0 there while also picking up a win with freshman
MARION SLOYAN at No. 3 for a perfect 4-0 doubles mark. Outside of conference action, her numbers remain highly impressive. Vincent delivered a 15-4 overall record with 14 of those wins coming at No. 1 singles. She also produced a 13-3 doubles record with 12 of those wins coming at No. 2. In earning Player of the Year honors, she becomes the first in program history to accomplish the feat.
Trey Martin, USA South Coach of the Year
In three seasons at helm of the Piedmont women's tennis program, Martin has yet to lose a conference regular season match, sporting a perfect 15-0 mark. Over his three seasons, Martin has delivered a 45-13 overall record and delivered a 15-5 mark this season, highlighted by two nonconference wins at Birmingham-Southern, a 6-3 win at Methodist and a 4-3 win at Point. However, conference play showed the team's true dominance as the Lady Lions lost just three total lines, producing a team singles record of 37-2 and a doubles mark of 18-1. Martin helped Vincent become the program's first ever USA South Player of the Year and led five Lady Lions to all-conference honors.
MEGAN WALDHEIM, All-USA South First Team, All-USA South First Team West Division
Waldheim delivered yet another dominant season in her final campaign for the Lady Lions, etching her name in the record books along the way. The senior from Berkeley Lake, Georgia holds the program records for career singles and career combined wins. Her all-conference honor this year marks the third time in three seasons of eligibility that she has been named to an All-USA South team. Waldheim took home All-USA South West Division Second Team honors in both 2018 and 2019. There was not an all-conference team in 2020 due to COVID-19. This season, Waldheim produced a perfect 5-0 mark in conference singles action with all five coming at the No. 2 position. In doubles action, Waldheim partnered with
MAGGIE MOODY to go 5-1 in the USA South and 12-7 overall, all of which came at No. 1. The duo earned USA South Doubles Team of the Week honors twice during the season.
ABBEY GRACE VENHAM, All-USA South West Division First Team
Venham earned a spot in the singles lineup and delivered an outstanding debut season for the Lady Lions, culminating in the all-conference honor. The freshman from Covington, Georgia produced a 9-3 overall singles record and was perfect in her two conference matches. Venham was versatile all season, picking up a singles win at each spot in the lineup from No. 2 through No. 6. In doubles action, she was a stellar 10-2 overall including an unbeaten 5-0 in conference matches. Venham partnered with
KARA LANDSIEDELÂ to go 9-2 with a 7-1 mark at No. 3 while also picking up a conference doubles win at No. 2 with
KAITLYN HOUSE.
KARA LANDSIEDEL, All-USA South West Division Second Team
Landsiedel closed her impressive career at Piedmont by earning yet another All-USA South honor. The senior from Woodstock, Georgia also took home All-USA South West Second Team honors in 2019. This season, Landsiedel produced a perfect 5-0 mark in conference and delivered 10 overall wins. She did her best singles work at the No. 5 spot, with a 4-0 record. In doubles action, she partnered with the freshman Venham to lock down the No. 3 position, producing a 5-0 USA South record. Landsiedel's 13 overall doubles wins tied with Vincent and Gish for the most on the squad.
MAGGIE MOODY, All-USA South West Division Second Team
The senior from Macon, Georgia takes home her first all-conference nod after an impressive campaign in both singles and doubles. Moody went 4-0 in conference singles matches and picked up eight singles wins overall in the 2021 season. However, her most impressive work was in doubles, as she partnered with Waldheim at No. 1 all season, going 5-1 in the USA South. The duo's strong work allowed them to earn two USA South Doubles Team of the Week awards. Moody enters the USA South Conference Tournament having won eight of her last 10 doubles matches with Waldheim.
