SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Piedmont women's tennis team competed against the southeast's best in Division III at the ITA Regionals this past weekend in Sewanee, Tennessee.
The Lady Lions competed in 52 total matches over the weekend with 43 singles matches and nine doubles matches.
Overall, 14 different student-athletes took to the courts, battling stout competition from the very best in the region.
Piedmont was able to pick up 12 total singles wins, highlighted by
IMANI VINCENT advancing in the main draw with a win over BSC's Maddi Stewart, 6-0, 6-2. Junior
DAKOTA WILKES also delivered a strong showing, winning three straight matches to win the B1 Singles Consolation Fraw.Â
Sophomore
ABBEY GRACE VENHAMÂ advanced past the first round of the main singles draw, prevailing in a hard-fought match over Sewanee's Jordan Besh, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
KAITLYN HOUSE picked up a pair of wins in the B3 Consolation Draw, advancing to the finals with a 2-2 singles record for the weekend.
After gong 2-1 as doubles partners at the Battle of the Blue Ridge earlier this fall, Vincent and freshman
BRIANA LAIDMAN blanked their opponents 8-0 in the first round of the main doubles draw.
In the B1 Doubles Draw, Venham partnered with
ALLISON DEMPSEY prevailed, 8-0, past a team from Belhaven.
