LaGRANGE, Ga. – The Piedmont College women's tennis team blanked Meredith College 5-0 in the USA South Athletic Conference tournament on Friday afternoon in the conference quarterfinals.

The Lady Lions (18-5) needed only five matches to clinch the win as Piedmont went 3-0 in doubles and won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

With the win, Piedmont will play Methodist University on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the McCluskey Tennis Center in LaGrange, Ga. The Monarchs are the No. 2 seed out of the East Division.

The No. 2 pairing of CAROLINE CONNELLY and MAGGIE MOODY won Piedmont's first match of the day with an easy 8-1 decision.

MORGAN BUCHHOLZ and MEGAN WALDHEIM teamed up at No. 1 and won 8-0 before CRYSALIN GLORIA and KARA LANDSIEDEL won 8-3 at No. 3.

With the win at No. 3, Gloria and Landsiedel set the program record for wins in a season by a doubles pairing. For the season, the two have dropped just one match when playing together.

With Piedmont leading 3-0, the Lady Lions only needed two singles win to clinch the match.

MAGGIE MOODY, playing No. 5, won 6-0, 6-1 before SAMANTHA LOWRY wrapped the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.

The Lady Lions were leading at No. 1 through No. 4 in singles at the time of clinch and their matches went unfinished.
